Hi, I'm Cyrus!
In the future, I'd like to make predictive models of cells in the same way we model the behaviour of planes, buildings and advanced electronics. Probably through a startup. I think life is more predictable than we think! With better models, we can develop new biotechnologies that improve human quality of life and lifespan, as well as creating a sustainable human existence on Earth.
I'm currently a PhD candidate in Bioengineering at Stanford University, in the Covert lab. Currently, I'm working on developing better training algorithms for mechanistic models of cell metabolism and gene regulation, so we can learn better mechanistic models from less data. Currently, we have an impressive amount of biological data available, but it seems like our cell models are still not able to make efficient use of that data.
